Procedure Text (teks prosedur) merupakan teks yang memberikan petunjuk atau instruksi untuk melakukan sesuatu. Biasanya jenis teks ini diawali dengan kalimat “How to…”, misalnya “How to make a cup of tea” atau “How to operate the machine”. Procedure Text banyak terdapat di buku resep masakan dan buku petunjuk (manual book).
Tujuan dari teks prosedur adalah untuk memberitahu pembaca cara melakukan atau membuat sesuatu melalui urutan tindakan atau langkah-langkah.
Generic Stucture of Procedure Text
Procedure text memiliki skema susunan umum atau generic structure. Berikut ini generic stucture of procedure text:
| 1 | Aim/Goal : memberikan informasi tentang maksud dan tujuan prosedur dan memprediksi suatu kesimpulan. |
| 2 | Materials : berisi daftar materi atau bahan-bahan yang dibutuhkan untuk melakukan suatu prosedur atau langkah-langkah. |
| 3 | Steps : daftar urutan instruksi/aktivitas untuk mencapai tujuan dalam urutan langkah yang benar. |
Language features of procedure text

Contoh Procedure Text
"How to Make Scrambled Eggs"
Ingredients:
- 2 eggs
- Milk (if desired)
- 1 teaspoon of butter
- A pinch of salt and pepper
Steps:
- First, crack the eggs into a small bowl and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Whisk until all well blended.
- In a frying pan, add butter and let it melt.
- Pour the eggs and milk, and for around 20 seconds, do not stir it.
- After that, stir the eggs with spatula.
- Repeat the previous step until the eggs are mostly cooked
- Remove eggs from heat, and keep continue to stir the eggs for around a minute.
- Lift the eggs, put on the serving plate and your scrambled eggs are ready.
“How to Insert Sim Card Cellphone”
Cellphone is a modern communication device which connects one to the others by voice, written message and data. However this device can not work until the SIM card is inserted. When inserting the SIM Card to cellphone, make sure that the cellphone has been switched off and follow the direction bellow :
First of all, press the locking catch and slide the cover then lift it off the phone. After that, push two catches in the opposite directions and remove the battery.
